Admittedly he's super awesome in his work, but I somehow have lost a little respect for him when he showed such ignorance to the whole process of what happens after he leaves the sets.
He says, "...there are two parts to the process. The first part is capturing the performance. Only later down the line do you start seeing the characters being painted over frame by frame using pixels." ?? What did he mean 'painted over using pixels'?? Does he even realise how much work is put into the performance by animators even after the motion captured data is recorded?
And yet he claims that he should be considered for an Academy Award. I mean if he thinks he's such a talented hard worker, then I think all awesome animators should be considered for an Academy award too (people like Jeff Gabor who can dish out just as good, and sometimes even better, performances by manually animating the characters).
I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but if he does, then we should too!
