Man, These guys are insane. I love each and every short movie they come up with. This is real story telling and creativity. Here in India we give importance to certain category and forget that we are movie makers or story tellers. We are gifted with everything what they have. Only thing we lack is lack of knowledge. Well time to do something about it. We have a wide variety of people, culture , environments and more than any thing we got creativity . And till now i havent seen good indian content at all. I have a few questions What are we waiting for? Are we not cabaple? Arent we creative enough? Well we indians surely dont ve much of resources, knowledge or money. Only thing we got is passion and passionate people around. MY FIRST EVER LIPSYNC!!

first off, i'm not in the final sem and this is not really a lipsync cuz there's hardly any dialogue!! lol, but this is sumtin i REALLY hv been wanting to do!! was killin time today and so i thought i'd record my own voice and animate hogan to it! cant tell ya how ecstatic i feel to FINALLY see my hogan talking (or rather SCREAMING!)!! lolz well this was just a try out (to see what REALLY awaits me next sem!), so there are some mistakes i agree. wud be glad if u cud point them out for me! but all in all, i feel REFRESHED after doing this! animation ROCKS, BOUNCES and ROLLS!!! p.s. this has also GOT to be my shortest clip!!! another achievement! roflmao :D

weight lift (WIP) blocking

another suicidal attempt! my weight lift blocking is done and it's 40 secs long!!! (i know i have a problem.. i cant think of shorter concepts!)! but this time i've got time on my side, so i pretty much think i can pull it off! (submission is on 9th jan, though i dont wanna spend more than a week on it!) well this has been one of the MOST interesting assignments to work on! i enjoyed playing with constraints, parents, locators and stuff! and this time i didnt think too much abt the gag, just wanted to concentrate MORE on the body mechanics. and since he's lifting a TV, i wanted him to be EXTRA CAREFUL while doing that (as advised by vinay and roshan). hope that part has come out convincing enough! ;) btw i got the idea of lifting a TV from a real life incident: when i almost wrecked a friend's monitor!! well, some of u know what i'm talkin abt! lol! :D c&c please!

plz sign this petition against the media

ok this has nothing to do with animation... but it sure has a lot to do with all of us... i dunno how many of us realise this, but during the mumbai attacks, the media was actually going overboard by PROUDLY giving out every cleverly planned minute detail of the movements of the NSG soldiers, loud out on TV. and while we at home were glued to the TV screens not wanting to miss any of the details of the NSG operations, we didnt realise how foolish we actually were to have all their secret plans let out like an open book!! the terrorists are definitely not fools living in caves. they too might have had every information about the NSGs' movements, thanks to our senseless TRP-hungry media. and who knows, THAT might have prolonged the rescue operations even more! thus i'm here with a petition commendably created by Vishal Dadlani of mumbai asking the govt to impose more order on the freedom of speech. i dunno how many of u agree with me, but i really really felt this was worthy. if u feel the same, do sign the petition! hey guys been quite a while for me in this blog!! i'm actually a WEEK behind my schedule! those mumbai attacks sure had me glued to the TV screen 24/7! well i'm finally done with my jump! hwvr, some parts i'm still not very satisfied with (the run, for instance). i'll keep workin on it as the sem proceeds... but for now i gotta get started with weight lift! do give in ur c&c. btw vinay i changed his action in the end (as u can see). abt the walk, i tried to put in a few variations, but it screwed up the animation! i'll SURELY put in the changes bro, but slowly slowly! as of now, kinda scared not to screw up the animation! lol [:D] but DO give in ur suggestions!

spontaneity

Holla, Was just goin through some youtube stuff. And found this video of a gr8 catch taken by Justin s kemp.Bloody amazing catch taken ever in the world of cricket and i was amazed by his spontaneous effort. What i observed here , is how human brain responds and makes these kinda decisions in a span of mili seconds and how we react to it. This is a very important while animating too. Keep in mind about how a character could react to this kinda quick decisions and best part would be to get a better performance out of it.Enjoziiiiii cheers vinay(admin)

Light a candle and fight against terrorism

Hey folks, Another dark day in the history of our country after a terrible terror attack in mumbai. I was shocked seeing all these events on television. Think about the people who suffered and lost lives with this outrageous event . Damn, we Indians have to unite and fight this terrorism once in for all. We dont need this. We are a peaceful country. I hope this will come to and end soon. Lets light a candle for the innocent souls who lost their lives and mourn for them for a few minutes.:( cheers vinay

tired walk

hey guys second sem is ROCKING!! having fun animating a FULL body character! lol... well this is my attempt at doing a character walk. i tried "tired walk", and believe me, after doing it, i feel almost the same: TIRED!! lolz, well it was fun doing it... but as u can see there's an issue with the hands... they knock off the knees... if i dont do that, they go thru the geometry of the knees, which i OFCOURSE dont want. so this is the best i cud come up with, although i'm not satisfied, cuz it looks jerky... plz suggest me some methods to overcome that problem AND keep the flow going... thanks! front persp side

a meet with a legend: JAMES BAXTER!!

guys this was one of the MOST memorable moments of my life!! I MET JAMES BAXTER!! someone who's worked on classics like Who framed Roger Rabbit, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and recent hits like Enchanted and Kung Fu Panda (the hand drawn sequences ofcourse!). it was awesome seeing someone so IMMENSELY talented standing just a few feet away from me!! well before i get too carried away, lemme just tell u what happened... james was here visiting india and he held a session at the asifa fest 'international animation day' held in bangalore on 6th nov 2008. it was a 3 hour session which was divided into the first hour of teaching about acting and body mechanics; second hour of the making of the 2D sequence of kung fu panda that his studio did; and the final hour of question answer session. the session was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! esp the part where he talked abt kung fu panda. it was AMAZING to know how he worked on it!! very inspiring! whew! well i have found one article on james baxter's lecture on acting, body mechanics, lipsync etc. it's awesome! check it out!! http://sewardstreet.com/blog/post/james_baxter_animation_lecture_day_one_acting/ http://www.sewardstreet.com/blog/post/james_baxter_animation_lecture_day_two_technique/ THIS man is something else!!

Hey people, Wooooooooooooooooooooooah. Its been a long time. puuuffff. I was on a vacation for some days. Been to GOKARNA(near GOA). Fantastic place , awesome stretch of beaches. If u guys get a chance plz do go there and freak out, And was busy with someother stuff. ITS BEEN ONE YEAR FOR ANIMATION MONSTERS. Wooooah. It was lot of fun, and really feels good to meet u all. MAD-AGASCAR-2

First of all, I'm thankful to my room-mate who got me the ticket for the preview of Madagascar-Escape 2 Africa. I was fortunate to be among some crazy lads from Dreamworks.I know you are least interested in this stuff. so here is, What I feel about the Movie. I'll say 'Average' but worth watching once. Mr. I.S mathur ( NID professor ) once told us in our Film Language session that more and more sugar makes Poison.This movie is very good example of his statement. So many things are happening there. Alex story is going on at one place, Melvin & Goria cooking something else, Martin at another place, Penguin are busy in their own world, New yorkers in their own, one villain ( New Character ) in his own and around 5-6 new character are also popping in to GET FAMOUS. I will say Madagascar was far better as they had one concentrated story about someone or about a Group. But in Madagascar-2 I'm still trying to figure out that, this story is about whom. I want to talk about many things but then you guys will curse me for disclosing it. But there are so many thing which I won't forget to appreciate. Movie is full with Gags. Animation is Super Cool. So precisely I will say worth watching Once. And yes there are few guys who liked the movie to the core. So its Individual thing and this is what I feel about it. I would love to listen from someone who disagree with me. So that I might see another perception.

animation monster logo storyboard

hey guys i thought up a small li'l story for the animation monster logo. i storyboarded it, so do tell me what u felt about it and suggest changes. plz DO NOT pay attention to the drawings... they suck!! anyway here's what happens (incase my drawings are worse than i thought!!): 1. an empty set 2. monster guy comes in 3. falls down flat 4. dusts himself 5. sees audience, gets embarrassed 6. looks right-left, sees a board onto his left 7. directs the audience's attention to it 8. tries to pull it out casually 9. realises the board is stuck 10. pulls hard 11. pulls even harder 12. falls flat on the ground 13. gets up in a flash angrily 14. ROARSSSSS at the board!! 15. the board panics and gets scared 16. it starts moving 17. ...right to the middle of the screen 18. monster guy relaxes personally i'm not too happy with the ending. it changes his whole character. that's what quite a few seniors have told me too! so i'm lookin for ideas. do suggest some! thanks!

Hi Partners, Jai Hindustan! I have started my 2nd dialog, and I have blocked this up roughly. Please let me know your C&C's.

VISUAL ELEMENTS

No doubt audience watch any film, play or short by his own will. But while watching any artwork or movie, its not their choice what they look at, and what should be ignore. its an onus on Film maker to direct audience eyes...instead of letting them wander in whole screen...or even out of screen if you lucky to have one hot chick next to you... :) And as we all know Animator are story-teller..so its becomes more important to us use Visual Elements intelligently. Here is few element I want to share with you guys. SHARPNESS & BLUR I'm sure most of will be knowing of this.One of the basic element, Figure of lesser importance in frame goes out of focus from eye. Our eyes attract more towards the figure, which is comfortable for eyes....Its natural thing. LIGHTING Do I need to say Anything ? EXTREME CLOSE UP Any distraction ? No...so do I need to say anything here? When you don't want to say anything then why the hell you are here Kasana.... >: Ok..Ok No offence here is another.. :) STATIC V/s MOVING See this particular shot in Ratatouille, In whole frame, share of Remy & his brother is almost nil. But still we don't distract from them... no doubt lighting also have his piece of cake. Cause in whole composition, everything is static except Remy & Co. and our eyes attracts more towards moving objects. Again natural thing...not my fault. EXCEPTIONS ALWAYS THERE ! But if the movements are general part of movements & flow then moving object do not distract our eyes but dramatically add to the static objects.So you need to be wise.So have milk & be smart.. :) Huaaa.... Kasana

Earthworms from animable on Vimeo. ...seeing and reading all this i got a cool idea ( or atleast i think that way )... how about arranging a very different kind of animation session or say challenge... we will animate a short animation...a small one...using whatever we can think of...3D..2D a strict no no...use your webcam, mobile cam anything...steal a chapati dough from mother...use cutouts...use mouse, pens, cds anything just put life into it and animate ! animation...art of movement...art of adding life into something...just prepare a video and share among us !...what do you guys think of this...what do admins think of this...let's discuss ! Olympics 2008 Monkey Movie - BBC Sport

hey guys just found this over the internet... it's BBC Sport's marketing campaign and titles for the forthcoming Olympic Games which are based upon the traditional Chinese folklore 'Journey to the West'. After a long time m watching such a brilliant performance. He s insane. Bloody insane. If u watch the movie, u ill be waiting for joker to enter the screen. After watching it , i had gone mad. Every one is talking his performance and people who ve been watching it are goin nuts. Well thats wat i call "GETTING INTO THE CHARACTER". Hey, Monsters...my entry for CGT session...sorry for putting this awful animation here, but really want to know your views on the somersault thing...me and my friend had a long discussion on this...he says that the somersault will be around his head...meaning that, his head will act as the center of rotation (say, pivot point) during the act...but i say what i done is right...cause he his throwing his body...something like this snowmobile stunt i saw...hope you guys are getting what i am trying to say...please guide...

Hey Guys Gr8 Newz for all of Us...Jason Ryan WebNinar is starting SOON...here r some details info...which I got got frm 11secondclub.com What's the new JRA Webinar going to entail? The JRA Webinar / Live Animation Demo will be a virtual classroom that we'll all get together 12 times a year, once a month for 2 hours. I will be taking sparks of ideas and showing how I approach developing these ideas into dynamic sequences for either a showreel piece or a short film. I will be doing story boards, flipbook leica reels and animation performance solving in flipbook. You will log in to this "virtual classroom" and see my full desktop and hear me talk as I develop shots and solve animation. Included in the 2 hours will be a full half hour devoted to Q&A where you can ask me questions directly and I can explain with the aid of drawings how I approach those problem areas. The whole event will be recorded and available for download to the students that attend the webinars and for students in time zones that may miss the live event. The resulting shots of the class (not the recording) will also be posted for anyone to see what the classes are all about. How do we sign up and how much does it cost? I will be opening a new webpage with the fantastic help of Larry Vasquez and his brother Darrell, where you can view the events all in one webpage named "JRAWEBINAR.com". I wanted the webinars to be seperate from the main Tutorials because these will be different, unedited and more direct. There is a very small annual charge of $99 per student (approx $8.20 per class) and this will be paid in advance. I'm asking students to pay in advance for a number of reasons.
